The Volunteer Centre Western Isles is marking Volunteers' Week this year by holding an exhibition of photographs entitled 'Volunteers in Action.' Staffs have been busy collecting photos from organisations around the islands and will have a display of over 100 photos in Pointers Youth Cafe, North Beach, Stornoway for three days during Volunteers' Week.

Water and Sewerage Exemption Scheme for Charities

Applications are open for a new scheme to assist eligible organisations with the payment of water and sewerage charges.

Legacy 2014: Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund is a £1m fund which will help communities to be able to realise their ambitions of owning and running their own sports facilities.

The initial package of support available will focus on clubs and organisations delivering sport and physical activity in their community who wish to:
• take on ownership and operation of existing local facilities
• build and operate new facilities
• make better use of current facilities through capital improvements

One year ago, as partners in Co-Cheangal Innse Gall the Volunteer Centre along with other members of the Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership signed the Climate Change Declaration for the Outer Hebrides, which commits the partnership to action in combating climate change.

The Coastal Communities Fund (CCF) will encourage the economic development of UK coastal communities by giving them funding to create sustainable economic growth and jobs. The Big Lottery Fund is delivering the CCF on behalf of Government.
